Cady Lalanne gets MVP of the Week award for West Asia Super League (by Hoops Agents)- March 25, 2023
The 30-year old center had a double-double of 20 points and twelve rebounds, while his team outclassed Al Nassr (#6, 2-4) with 31-point margin 101-70. It allowed Kuwait to consolidate first place in the West Asia Super League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Kuwait already had a very good start winning all 6 without losing a single one. Lalanne turned to be Kuwait's top player in his first season with the team. University of Massachusetts graduate has very impressive stats this year. Lalanne is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 13.3rpg) and averages solid 2.8bpg and 56.1% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203-F-1988) of Al Naft. Wiggins impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Al Naft lost that game 91-101 to the higher-ranked Gorgan (#1, 4-1). Al Naft managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-4 record. Wiggins is a newcomer at Al Naft and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.5ppg (#3). He also registered 9.5 boards per game. The third best performed player last round was American Darrin Dorsey (188-PG-1987, agency: Diamond Sports) of Orthodox (#5). Dorsey got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. He went also for six assists. He was a key player of Orthodox, leading his team to a 86-82 win against slightly higher-ranked Zob Ahan (#4, 3-2). Orthodox needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Dorsey has a great season in West Asia Super League. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 6.8apg (2nd best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Vander Blue (196-SG-1992) of Al Sadd - 32 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Behnam Yakhchali (196-SG-1995) of Gorgan - 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists 6. Jacob Pullen (183-PG-1989) of Kuwait - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists 7. Edgar Sosa (190-F-1988) of Al Naft - 34 points and 3 assists 8. Omran Jawhar (203-C-2000) of Kuwait - 21 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Waverly Austin (211-F-1991) of Al Sadd - 23 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists 10.
